Role in California Volunteers

As a Commissioner, David Lee supports California Volunteers' mission to expand volunteerism and civic engagement across the state. He advises on policy and program decisions, fosters partnerships, and advocates for inclusive participation in service initiatives. Lee also brings a strong voice for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) representation, aiming to amplify the role of AAPI communities in public service and civic leadership.

Civic Engagement and Community Advocacy

Beyond his statewide role, Lee has been deeply involved in the San Gabriel Valley, where he is recognized not just as a business leader but as a community advocate. He has focused on improving public safety in the Los Angeles area and empowering underserved communities through both direct action and advocacy. In response to rising anti-Asian sentiment, Lee organized a “Stop Asian Hate” car rally that drew significant attention to racial justice and safety, starting in downtown Los Angeles and ending at his business plaza in Walnut.

He continues to work with local law enforcement and community organizations to combat crime and support neighborhood stability—particularly for small business owners impacted by safety concerns.

Education & Leadership Development

Lee is a committed supporter of educational and leadership initiatives. He serves on the USC Marshall School of Business Board of Leaders, is a member of the USC Widney Society, and mentors students through the USC Career Advantage Program. He also chairs the David SK and Katherine Lee Endowment Program for Leadership Development at Flintridge Preparatory School.

Legacy & Values

Through his dual roles as a business leader and public servant, David Lee demonstrates a lifelong commitment to civic responsibility, education, and the empowerment of future leaders. His work embodies the belief that public service can be nonpartisan, impactful, and deeply rooted in community values.
